Raised at the Lake
Randy was raised at Lake of the Ozarks. Living in a doublewide trailer on his grandparent’s resort property, he has been on this lake since he could walk.
Randy got his first boat by the time he was 10 years old, a 1971 GW Invader named Tippi Toe, White with a black racing stripe. Growing up on the water was the only thing he knew and loved. Water skiing, jet skis and boats were just the way of life in the Kent family.
Once his school years came around, his family moved to Kansas City, but they always kept a lake house for everyone to enjoy on the weekends.
“Some of my best memories as a kid was growing up on this lake. From hanging out on the dock waiting for customers to buy me a soda from my grandpa’s vending machine, to fishing with him, and waiting on my dad to start my Honda 50 Mini Trail for me so I could ride for the entire day. I put so many miles on that bike before the lake even had paved roads.”
In 2007 Randy started Marine Concepts, now well known as the” World’s Best Boat
Cover” with over 5000 covers on Lake of the Ozarks alone and now with a nation-wide dealer network, that business was born at the lake and still manufactures every cover right here at Lake of the Ozarks.
Randy is most known for his boats that he has designed or created, Monopoly the 2005 46 Black Thunder that He and Mark Morris Visual Imagination painted together.
Shortly after that Randy created Speed Racer, one of the most well-known boats
in the world. Randy has built 3 Speed Racers. The second one was a Race version
where he and Reggie Fountain III won the World Championship in 2006. Shortly after
created another to race in the Unlimited Class and raced with Marine Concepts on the
side.
Offshore Racing
Even today Randy still has his hands in Off-Shore Racing, currently managing the X-Insurance Race Teams and was Driver of the
X-Insurance Class 1 Race Boat.
